When Lisa and Jim Schalk opened their candy shop a little more than 15 years ago, they didn’t know the candy they were making would soon be in the hands and get the seal of approval of one of the most powerful people in television.

The Schalk’s are the owners of Tampa’s Toffee To Go and back in 2013 their sweet treats made it on the list of one of Oprah Winfrey’s “Favorite Things.” Here’s what Oprah had to say about their toffee in her monthly magazine.

“Buttery, crunchy and coated with scrumptious combinations of chocolate and nuts. White with Macadamia, dark with pecan and milk with almond, these handmade treats from a family recipe are toffee at its most delectable.”

Back then, Oprah only discovered what everyone in the Tampa Bay area already knew and that was that when it comes to cooking in the kitchen, the Schalks are good at creating confectionery combinations.

The Schalks take pride in their award winning Tampa treasure being enjoyed by people from all over the United States.

“From family recipe to family business, we bring you “Toffee to Go”, a sweet treat you will love at first bite. Our toffee is made with only the finest ingredients. Each batch begins with farm fresh butter, premium chocolates, California almonds and Georgia pecans,” the two said in a joint statement.

The Toffee To Go candy shop is located at 3251 W Bay to Bay Blvd. in Tampa.
